Whether you are on a business trip or on vacation, you may be looking for the best place to spend the night in Strasbourg, France. Check out my best hotels and accommodations for a memorable stay in Strasbourg. Pack your bags and let's travel together!

How long to stay in Strasbourg?

Well, the answer to this question depends on your personal preferences and the activities you plan to undertake while in Strasbourg ;)

To truly immerse yourself in the city's culture, good restaurants and main attractions (La Petite France, European Parliament, the Cathedral, ...), I recommend allocating around three to four days on site.

Then, the duration of your stay depends on whether or not you plan to discover optional other cities or attractions nearby:

  • Experience life as a local: why not go beyond the typical tourist attractions and stay two extra days in Strasbourg? Start by visiting the municipal baths, known as "Les Bains Municipaux" and venturing into the city's vibrant bar scene and mingle with Strasbourgeois residents. Consider also renting a bike!
  • Culinary experiences: Strasbourg is known for its excellent food and wine. If you're a food lover, you might want to extend your stay to eat in the best restaurants in the city - one extra day to eat lunch and dinner should be enough.
  • Day trips in Alsace from Strasbourg: Strasbourg is well-connected to other picturesque cities in the Alsace region, such as Colmar, Riquewihr or beautiful castles around. If you plan to take day trips to nearby destinations, you might want to add one extra day or two to your itinerary.

Hotel de la Cour du Corbeau - near Strasbourg Cathedral

La Cour du Corbeau is one of the oldest hotels in Europe and has known famous boarders such as Voltaire, Alexandre Dumas or Frederic the Great. In this magnificent Renaissance building, the rooms bear the marks and names of their famous guests.

Hotel and Spa Régent Petite France - a 5 star hotel

The Hotel Régent has an exceptional and luxurious setting with a view of the Ill River. For the anecdote: it was built in place of the old ice houses of Strasbourg of which you can still see some traces of the machines in the lobby.

It's located in the picturesque Petite France district!

Hotel Léonor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Hotel Léonor is a former mansion in the center of Strasbourg. It opened its doors in 2021 not far from Place Broglie after extensive renovations. If the majestic facade has been preserved, the interior has been transformed into a magnificent 4-star hotel with 116 comfortable rooms and suites with refined decoration. The bar is very nice, in a relaxed atmosphere and with beautiful local products (including Christmas beer).

Hotel Hannong ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Located on Rue du 22 Novembre, not far from Galeries Lafayette and Place Kléber where the big fir tree is located, the Hotel Hannong is a hotel with a history: that of a particularly famous former earthenware factory, and of style, that of the Avant-Garde artistic movement embodied by the Horn brothers at the beginning of the 20th century. If the weather is nice and mild, you can also enjoy the magnificent rooftop!

The best cheap hotels in Strasbourg

If you're looking for an affordable hotel, I recommend you to go to Strasbourg during off-season. You should find very good deals starting in January, once Christmas market is over, or towards the end of the tourist season in September or October. Otherwise, here's a selection of hotels that I recommend for less than 100 € per night.

The K Hotel in Cronenbourg

Let's go to the west of Strasbourg with the K Hotel which offers very nice services for a reasonable price. It's the good address of one of my friends who regularly stays in this hotel when she comes to see her clients in Strasbourg. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The breakfast buffet is delicious and offers many local products. And you are only a few minutes walk from the Saint Florent streetcar stop which will take you to the city center.

The Cerise aparthotels in the Meinau

Located in the Meinau district, a few steps away from the famous stadium of the Racing Club of Strasbourg, the Cerise residence offers more than a hundred accommodations, ranging from studios to apartments with kitchenette. The accommodation offers a high quality of service. You can easily park your car and take the streetcar at the Lycée Couffignal stop to get back to Strasbourg's Grande Île in 10 minutes.

Ibis hotels

The Accor chain has several Ibis hotels in Strasbourg. The accommodations are more standard but the brand has some interesting locations, notably in the city center at Place des Halles, easily accessible from the train station, and near the Museum of Modern Art and Petite France.

Deux-Rives Youth Hostel

Located on the banks of the Rhine, the auberge de jeunesse des Deux-Rives can be an interesting alternative for those on a budget. The main advantage of this hostel is its proximity to Germany.

What if you tried the Strasbourg campsite?

Located in the heart of the Parc Naturel Urbain of Strasbourg, the Strasbourg campsite is the ideal place for a stay in the middle of nature while being close to the city. This 4-star campsite offers a wide range of accommodations, such as bungalows, chalets, trailers or pitches for your tent. You will also find a swimming pool, a playground and the possibility to rent bicycles.
